Education
Few geographical distinctions emerged in education. Some areas had a
greater proportion of those who had not completed high school than others,
but no clear visual pattern emerged from the data.
This is not the case when University education is taken into consideration.
The first map indicates the percentage of the population achieving some
level of University, completed or not. Much of the population is concentrated
in the West Island and in the western half of the City of Montreal and
Westmount. Verdun has a great deal of residents with some university education
as well. The percentage approaches 80% in some areas. This is especially
interesting when noting that the West Island has a high proportion of
children under 15 years of age. Nearly every adult therefore must have
had some connection to University at one time.
Attainment of a University degree, bachelors, Masters and higher, concentrates
the population still more into Westmount and surrounding area, and the
West Island, particularly Baie d'Urfe and Senneville. Nun's Island also
has a high proportion of degree holders. |
